The Alchemist by Paul Coelho

This is one of the most life-enchanting, life-changing, memorable and meaningful book. It has the potential to be one that changes lives of the readers forever. The book talks about achieving one's personal legends, dreams and goals, no matter what obstacles one confronts. I personally believe that it is as memorable and meaningful as Saint-Exupery's Little Prince. I believe everyone should, at one point or another, pick up and read this book. It is one can be drawn to at some special time in their life when we really need it, some books are like that I find. Actually I every book does that for me. I just walk in a book store and see it on a shelf and if I am not in that certain place in my life, I will not even pick it up but if I happened to be in that place, than I will definitely be drawn to it. Funny how this always happens.

A couple of years ago, when I was in high school, I read this book trilogy. At the time I thought there only was two books. To my surprised I recently discovered the third one. The story is real, the characters existed in real life, and it was also adapted for TV as a miniserie called Les Filles de Caleb. Originally a Quebec production and later translated to english and played on the CBC network in Canada. This is basically the story of three generation of really strong (not to say stubborn at times) women who always knew what they wanted in life and despite having to struggle with the time, constraints and people telling them you should do this and that as this is the proper way for a woman to act, they managed to realize their dreams and stick to their beliefs never to let a man tell them what they should do or how they should act. Dear Reader, I am warning you that if you have chosen to read this blog, then it isn’t too late to back out and go read something else for you are about to find out that there is nothing about this blog entry that will be pleasant, it is nothing but misery, despair and discomfort and you still can go search for another blog that will be more pleasant to read. Book Review: Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel

Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel I read this book two or perhaps three years ago. This is a truly amazing story of a character that can be considered the first feminist. Women struggling to be treated as an equal to the male of her clan. Having to deal with the reproched of the other women and the anger of most of the males of her clan. All this because she wanted to be allowed to hunt. The main character can also be considered the first women to be raped, Although in these times it was known that if the males wanted to satisfy their sexual urges, the women were expected to accept without resistance. Which today we would all find this barbaric as we have the concept of choice, the women have the right to choose and decide whether they want to or not and the "no means no" is respected, well most of the times as, unfortunetaly, too many women are still victims of rape.
