Book Review: Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel

Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel

I read this book two or perhaps three years ago. This is a truly amazing story of a character that can be considered the first feminist. Women struggling to be treated as an equal to the male of her clan. Having to deal with the reproched of the other women and the anger of most of the males of her clan. All this because she wanted to be allowed to hunt.

The main character can also be considered the first women to be raped, Although in these times it was known that if the males wanted to satisfy their sexual urges, the women were expected to accept without resistance. Which today we would all find this barbaric as we have the concept of choice, the women have the right to choose and decide whether they want to or not and the "no means no" is respected, well most of the times as, unfortunetaly, too many women are still victims of rape.

More later.
