Reading 50 books by the end of 2009

So I have made a decision, set myself a goal for 2009 to have read 50 by the end of the year. I am not sure if I will be able to realize that goal yet, depends on how busy I get, but I sure will try to accomplish this goal.

  • Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll
  • Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
If anyone has any suggestion, if anyone reads this besides me that is, they are welcomed.

Book Review: "Les filles de Caleb" trilogy

A couple of years ago, when I was in high school, I read this book trilogy. At the time I thought there only was two books. To my surprised I recently discovered the third one. The story is real, the characters existed in real life, and it was also adapted for TV as a miniserie called Les Filles de Caleb. Originally a Quebec production and later translated to english and played on the CBC network in Canada. This is basically the story of three generation of really strong (not to say stubborn at times) women who always knew what they wanted in life and despite having to struggle with the time, constraints and people telling them you should do this and that as this is the proper way for a woman to act, they managed to realize their dreams and stick to their beliefs never to let a man tell them what they should do or how they should act. The Hunger Game by Suzanne Collins.

I am currently reading this book. I originally heard about from other nerdfighters on youtube or reading blogs and when I was taking my usual walk through chapters, yes i do this a lot, I saw the book and couldn't resist getting it. This story depicts a US of the future where twelve district are controlled by reality TV. The Hunger Games feature glamorous opening ceremonies, sponsorship, personal interviews and end in a fight to the death. Normally district 12 tributes do not receive much attention but this time it all changed when Katniss volunteers to take the place of her little sister Prim in the games and Peeta declares his loves for her during the interviews. This is what I think of reality TV, people sometimes making fools of themselves on TV for the sole entertainment of the viewers. This is basically the reason I refuse to watch all the reality TV shows produced nowadays. Where is the creativity? It is all the same formula, plus I do not find people making fools of thems

Book Review: A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snickett

Dear Reader, I am warning you that if you have chosen to read this blog, then it isn’t too late to back out and go read something else for you are about to find out that there is nothing about this blog entry that will be pleasant, it is nothing but misery, despair and discomfort and you still can go search for another blog that will be more pleasant to read.
